What Should You Choose For Your App: React, Or Angular?

Talking about some of the popular JavaScript frameworks available today, two names that stand out are React and Angular. Both these frameworks are used for building user interfaces and offer many features to make development easier. But which one (React or Angular) should you use for your next project?

It isn’t easy to decide, as React and Angular have much to offer. In this article, we’ll compare these two frameworks so you can make an informed decision about which one to choose.

But before we get started, let’s look at these technologies and what they are used for.

React: The Introduction

React is a JavaScript library for building UI (user interfaces) for an application or a website. It was created by Facebook and is used by big companies such as Netflix, Airbnb, and Instagram.

Although Jordan Walke created it in 2011 and cracked the nuts as a new standard for developing dynamic and fast-working websites using JavaScript, most importantly.

Aside from these benefits, React provides developers with a superior resource for creating reusable and easily integrable UI components that cut development time and provide a responsive user experience for online applications, websites, and mobile apps. The library focuses on developing an application’s View Layer.

What makes React so special?

React has a few features that make it stand out from other frameworks:

  • It uses a declarative programming style, making code more readable and easier to understand.
  • It uses a virtual DOM, which makes it faster than other frameworks.
  • It can be used on the server-side as well as the client-side.
  • React developers provides many UI components for developing customizable interactive elements.

Angular- The Introduction

Angular is an effective web application framework used for building single-page applications. It was created by Google and is used by companies such as PayPal, Upwork, and Forbes.

It is also known as “Angular 2+” or “Angular CLI” sometimes. It is a free and open-source TypeScript-based framework led by Google’s Angular Team. Even though it was founded in 2009,

Furthermore, Angular applications load rapidly since the code can be rendered into HTML and CSS. It provides command-line tools for AngularJS developers, making application testing and development easier.

What makes Angular so special?

Angular has many interesting features that make it a good choice for development:

  • It uses TypeScript, a superset of JavaScript that offers static type-checking.
  • It has a modular structure which makes code easy to reuse and test.
  • It uses dependency injection, which makes development easier.
  • It has strong community support with many helpful resources available.
  • Version upgrades help Angular improve its Component Development Kit (CDK).
  • It’s used to make high-quality animations that improve the user experience.

Now that we’ve seen React and Angular, let’s compare them so you can decide which one (React or Angular) to use for your next project.

React vs Angular-The Comparison

When comparing React and Angular, there are a few key areas that we need to look at:

1. Language:

Both React and Angular use JavaScript, but React also uses JSX, a syntax extension of JavaScript. This means that you can write HTML code using React. On the other hand, Angular uses TypeScript, a superset of JavaScript.

2. Framework size

React is a smaller framework than Angular as it only deals with the UI. This makes it easy to learn and use. On the other hand, Angular is a full-fledged framework that offers more features and takes longer to learn.

3. Data binding

React uses one-way data binding, while Angular uses two-way data binding. This means that the UI is automatically updated in React when data is changed. In Angular, the model is automatically updated when data in the UI is changed.

4. Performance

React is faster than Angular as it uses a virtual DOM. This means that only the components that need to be updated are re-rendered. On the other hand, Angular updates all the components even if only one has changed.

5. Community support

On GitHub, React receives more community support than Angular. Where Angular has 81.9k stars, React holds 189k on GitHub. According to the 2021 StackOverflow Developer Survey, developers working on React.js projects outnumber those working on Angular.

6. Learning curve

React has a shallower learning curve than Angular as it is smaller and easier to learn. Angular, on the other hand, has a steeper learning curve as it is a full-fledged framework.

Wrap Up!

So, which one should you use- React or Angular?

Both React and Angular have advantages and disadvantages. Which one you should select is entirely dependent on your requirements. React is a wonderful alternative if you require a smaller framework that is simple to understand and use. However, Angular is better if you need a full-fledged framework with more capabilities.

I hope this article helped you understand the differences between React and Angular. Besides, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them below. Thank you for reading!
