Google has become indispensable for our daily life, we cannot imagine a day without Google in this digital era. Whether we are at home or we step out, Google is the first thing that comes to our mind to search for our desired information. It has become an integral part of our life to search for small to big things. We can get instant answers to our queries from Google, hence subconsciously we are dependent on it. It is our digital encyclopedia and has made our life very easy.

What is Google MUM?

Google is known for launching many features and functions very frequently for the ease of its users. One of them is Google MUM or Multitask Unified Model. This will be launched by Google in the coming months.

Google MUM will be used for better lens and search, it will understand 75 different languages and will use T5 text-to-text framework to answer our queries. Through this feature, Google will give its users the ability to ask whatever they see. 

MUM will be multi modal and will have the capacity to understand various information through text and images. Hence, it will improve the comprehensive understanding of information. Three features will be included in the Google search option with the launch of MUM- “Things to know”, “Topic Zoom”, and “Visually brows able search results”. 

What are its unique features?

Multi modal feature-

With the help of MUM features, the users can easily tap on the lens icon and ask Google about the same thing they want. For instance, if you want a piece of skirt, shirt sarees, you can simply tap on the Google lens and search for the picture you want.
Google will open multiple options for its users and you can get the exact picture of the goods and services that you desire. Through this feature, Google will help you to look for something that might be a problematic task for you to describe in words for the exact item you are looking for. For example, if you type “Red floral saree”, you may not get the exact pattern or thing that you are looking for, hence with the help of Google MUM you can easily combine the text and image into a single query and make your search easier. Through this feature of Google, you can easily make searches visually and express your queries in more common ways.  

Bridge the Language gap-

Google MUM will be designed and trained in such a way that it will understand 75 different languages and many tasks all at once. It will help Google users to solve their complex queries within a few seconds.

While searching any information language can be an obstacle, but MUM has the potential to bridge this language gap of the users by transferring your desired information. It can provide you with the most valuable insight and relevant information according to your preferred language. 

How will it be effective for online merchants?

In this digital-friendly world, most businesses have their online presence or they have their websites. Their web developers or SEO analysts are continuously making efforts to make their company stand out on the first page of Google for more searches and to attract more customers.

Moreover, the eCommerce companies are the ones who are trying their best to highlight their products and services on Google, so that people buy their products and they can earn more revenue. Now with the help of Google MUM, various small and big merchants will be benefited.

It will help both the user and the merchants to buy and sell their products respectively. MUM will help its users to evaluate the credibility of their information in a better way.

Through Google MUM, Google will apply more Artificial Intelligence to the search option. Google search goes through a meticulous evaluation process to assure its users provide more relevant and helpful results. Just like the BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers), in 2019, Google MUM will also have the same feature in the search option.

Google developers and Scientists have undergone various researches and observations to reduce the carbon footprint of MUM and ensure that the Google search runs efficiently as per the queries of the users. Although Google is exploring its MUM feature, it will be a significant milestone in the future where Google can understand all the communication and interpretation of its users.
